Charles Noski (Business Administration) has been named executive vice president and chief financial officer of the Bank of America Corporation. Noski earned his master’s degree in accounting in 1995, also at CSUN, and was awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters in 2007.

Peter Wingert (Sociology) serves as general manager of American Waste Unlimited, where he has worked since 1987. Easter Seals’ Southern California Disability Services recently named Wingert to its board of directors as parent representative and program committee member.

Anne Renna (Accounting) gave a presentation on business fraud to the 2009 Joint National Conference of the American Society of Women Accountants and the American Woman’s Society of CPAs in Las Vegas. Renna is a CPA and certified fraud examiner in Santa Monica.

Dan Eller (Health Science) is the director of communications at Hearst Castle and a lecturer at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, in the Journalism and Kinesiology Departments. Eller earned his master’s in public health at CSUN in 1987, and his Ed.D. at the UCSB Gevirtz Graduate School of Education in Educational Leadership, where his research focused on collaborative fundraising models for executive higher education leadership.

In Memoriam

Ron Adams ’70 (German), a lifelong educator, passed away on March 10. Adams is survived by educational policy studies professor Jeanne Adams ’65, MA ’74, who serves in CSUN’s educational leadership doctorate program.

Jon Jones ‘77 (Engineering) died in March at the age of 55. Jones had served as president of El Segundo-based Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems. A resident of Encino, Jones’ Raytheon career spanned 33 years. He received the Malcolm R. Currie award for innovation in 1996 and Raytheon’s corporate Excellence in Technology Award in 2001.

Steven Beattie Patrick ’75 (Art) was a design engineer whose visionary work with Walt Disney Imagineering, Jet Propulsion Laboratory and his own company, Interactive Design Engineering, ranged from projects such as the Mars Rover to theme park rides to concert stage effects for performers Madonna, Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. Patrick died at the age of 59, after a year-long battle with kidney cancer. His widow, Debbi Swanson Patrick, is a CSUN journalism alumna.

David Schacter ’63 (English), a retired Los Angeles County Superior Court judge, presided over several high-profile trials in his more than two decades on the bench. Earlier in his career, he worked for the city attorney’s offices in Long Beach and in Los Angeles, successfully arguing before the U.S. Supreme Court in defense of the city’s prosecution of tape recording piracy. Schacter died in March, at the age of 68.

Lois Tarkington ’68 (Psychology) passed away on January 30.
